Super Tommy

I entered the Young writers competition 2015... Here is my story

Super Tommy
Thud, thud, thud… Tommy’s worn out shoes pounded on the ground. Nothing was worse than walking to school on a cold cloudy day. All Tommy wanted was to be back in his cosy bed reading his superhero magazine.  Tommy was seven; he had brown curly hair and a cheeky smile.
Tommy had a dollar in his pocket and decided to pop into Dickenson’s Dairy and buy some sweets.
Just as he was approaching Tommy watched a strange looking couple march into the dairy.  The man had a big belly and long ginger hair, the lady had freckles, big round glasses and a funny straw hat.   Right before Tommy’s eyes the ginger man yanked open a box full of cash and stuffed into a black bag.
Tommy shot through the door and charged towards the robbers.  As he did so they reached out for him and plucked him off the ground. They hung him up on the zombie chew shelf and without saying a word sprayed him with a memory forgetting potion!
At that moment the Dairy owner leaped in shouting ‘my stuff, my money! How dare you take my money?  It was a donation for children’s hospital, Hand it back’!  ‘I’m sorry ….but it wasn't me, exclaimed Tommy ‘why would I dangle myself from a shelf’? ‘Did you see anyone come in’? No answered Tommy, I can’t remember a thing’.   Luckily he believed Tommy and eventually let him go.
Later at school, Tommy was sitting in his science class, daydreaming. Suddenly he saw a flashback in his mind of black bags overloaded with money; he also saw a straw hat and big round glasses. Next he had flashes of being sprayed in the face.
His science teacher Mrs Pickles was a kind lady with a long pointed nose and long black hair tumbling down her white lab coat.  She caught the look on Tommy’s face. ‘Tommy are you ok’? She enquired. ‘Not really’, Tommy replied.  It was then that Tommy began to explain about the events of the morning and being sprayed.  He knew something was wrong but he couldn’t quite explain it. Mrs Pickles agreed to help him unravel the mystery.
Mrs Pickles agreed to help and took a swab of Tommy’s face with some cotton wool.  After some quick tests she discovered that there were indeed traces of forgetting potion on the swab. ‘Don’t worry Tommy I know how to make a drink to help you remember everything’ explained Mrs Pickles.   They hurried to the back of the science lab where Mrs Pickles added some strange ingredients to a bowl, calling them out as she mixed them together:
‘The slime of an elephant’s trunk,
The eyeballs of one juicy fish,
One giant spoon of cabbage soup
And a gulp of red wine’.
Tommy gulped down a spoonful of the disgusting mixture ….They waited…….Tommy began to remember and explain everything. Immediately they called the police who were able to catch the culprits. ‘Well done Tommy’, said PC Plod giving him a bravery medal. ‘Just goes to show what happens when you’re honest!’  It was a victory for Tommy and the kids at the hospital who finally got their money.
That evening Tommy eventually got home, it had been the longest day ever!  After a hot bath his Mum tucked him into bed and he picked up his magazine.  Finally! Tommy thought, there’s no place like home!
Tommy’s picture made the front page of the local newspaper the next day along with Mrs Pickles who looked rather like a witch!  I wonder thought Tommy to himself……
